On the 2nd of March I got a phone call from the aquarium shop that our ordered Loricula had arrived. So in the evening I went over to pick up the fish and put it in our aquarium. Immediately it hide himself between the rocks, and even yesterday it was hardly visible but it did show up a couple of times, enough to make a picture of him Smile

On the 24th I decided to remove some of the Grape Algae, since it was growing more and more towards and into the Xenia. It seemed to be grown so far into it that it was hard to remove and while removing it I damaged some of the Xenia a bit, unfortunately. Not all of it was removed, so I have to keep a close eye onto it to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

The Urchin is still acting weird, climbing on rocks, staying above the sand most of the time. Going to keep a close eye on him as well, not sure what to do about it yet, if I even need to do anything about it.

Another cleanup in the aquarium last weekend (Valentines Day :p). The focus was firstly remove the algae, but also free the red mushroom from the Halimeda growing around it, something I tried last week but couldn’t finish because some clownfish was bothering me.
But first we took out the Toadstool Mushroom Coral (and rock) because the attempt to kill the sea anemone did fail after all, it showed his head again Friday. After taking it out we put it in a dish and started injecting the anemone with boiling water again and squirted some more into the rock and over the little sea anemone....

Tuesday we bought a Hermit Crab, not sure about the exact species of Hermit, but it seems to have dark red legs and orange feelers. After slowly mixing the water we dropped him in the aquarium…only forgot he wasn’t a fish and sank to the bottom…but he survived the drop :p

He immediately started cleaning the sand while allot of the fishes where checking him out, especially the clown fishes where looking at him, as always with new inverts. But he didn’t...

First cleaning this month, and it was needed again. There was a lot of algae on the rocks that needed to be removed, so a new tactic for cleaning was needed (to make sure people didn’t get attacked by our clownfish). First I removed some Halimeda algae around the Red Mushroom to make sure he could grow again, unfortunately the male clownfish didn’t like me doing it very much, so he started to attack very early in the cleaning process (normally it takes a bit longer). So I still need to remove allot of it for the Red Mushroom to grow.

First water change of the year, and it was really a must now. Couldn't hardly see anything through the glass because of all the algea. Also the first cleanup since the Kauderni died beginning of this month. All the values where fine, so just some cleanup needed to be done and a little refill.
One of the things that also needed to be done was to clear some Halimeda Copiosa from around the red mushroom coral. The algea began to overgrow the little mushroom. While clearing it I noticed it had already attached to the rock,...

When we started a while ago the tank was only filled with life rock. Waiting for this to settle. When we thought the conditions where right vacation time came up. We decided to wait till after the vacation to put in the first fish. Glad we did, because in the vacation the temperature went up till 40C in the tank. This made that allot of water disapeared and the remaining water got to salt. The life rock got a bit hit, but survived, glad no fish or any other life forms where present at that time.
