New corals

Last Saturday we went to see someone I got in contact with through the Nederlands en Belgisch zeewater forum. He said he had some lose mushrooms for me so we went to have a look. This guy really had a wonderful aquarium, a lot of stone corals. His biggest problem was that the mushrooms and buttons where growing wild, almost became a plague. Of course this is a plague I don’t mind helping someone out with.
Unfortunately all the mushrooms attached to rocks already again, and we both didn’t really have a good idea how to get them loose from the rock. But we didn’t leave empty handed. We got one rock filled with blue/purple mushrooms.
Two rocks with buttons, both rocks also had a mushroom on it (red one and the other one a blue one).
And he cut one mushroom with a part of the stone from underneath one of his stones, so it’s almost an unattached mushroom, nice dark red coloured.
We placed all the new corals in the aquarium, mostly on the sides/lower regions. My girlfriend had the idea to try to build the rocks up a bit more, so I wanted to leave the top empty so we had room to put some big rocks on top of the current construction. But for now it is still low build with more coral growth at the lower parts.
Then there is the current weather, it is very warm outside and inside as well. The cooler has a hard time getting the aquarium on 25 degrees Celsius. We bought an airco system to make the temperature in the house cooler, so that the aquarium would be cooler, but also for our pleasure.
And last is the everlasting battle against the brown stuff, it is still not becoming less and with new buttons it’s becoming more of a problem. We are now going to stop with the Salifert Coral Food, see if this helped the growth of this stuff. We are going to stop giving it from today, so hopefully we will get results soon (after cleaning?).
