The days after, Part 1
Everything in the aquarium seems to have settled a bit, the fishes are enjoying the new surroundings, the corals are opening slowly and the Tube Worm showed himself a lot. Today we are going to buy some new life rock to help boost the values (we hope).
Speaking of values, we measured them yesterday, and it’s not yet what it should be. We have some Phosphate (0,1), Ammonia (0,023) and some Nitrite (0,1) and Nitrate (2,5). Now according to the testing manual for Nitrate we don’t have to look at the Nitrate reading because of the Nitrite, we can never have an accurate reading. We also check for PH and KH, these where normal/good. PH was 7,7, which we always had. And the KH was 7, which needs to be higher, but is same as before also.
Pictures can be found under the designated topics, here are some highlights.
And then there is the quarantine aquarium with the Toadstool and Cabbage leather corals. The Toadstool looks worse each day, but the Cabbage doesn’t seem to mind. Also the values in that aquarium are bad. There is no Phosphate, that’s a good thing, but also a 0,023 reading of Ammonia and a 0,5 reading of Nitrite. The Nitrate gave a reading of 5, but just like for the other aquarium, the value of Nitrite is too high to have a good reading on the Nitrate. PH is 7,7 and the KH is 9, which good, better then in the main aquarium.
Here some pictures of the terrible state the toadstool is in. The light is on 13 hours a day, we add Coral Food from Salifer and the pump is aimed at the crown.
