Back from vacation
Our Foxface is here for 10 months now. Gave us a scare after the first rebuild when he jumped out of the small aquarium, but didn’t seem to be bothered by it. He is still swimming around happily

Foxface First year anniversary
The foxface celebrated his first anniversary in the RSM250 this Saturday. In the past year he has done great, it’s a great fish to observe. He changes colours depending on his mood, sometimes he is coloured bright yellow, sometimes with a black strip on his back and sometimes with brown/gray spots all over his body. Also sometimes the colour is more pale/white, mostly when he sleeps or is stressed. Also fun to observe are his spines which he flashes when he feels threatened.
January 2010
In the beginning he enjoyed the presence of the big toadstool we had. He was always swimming around it and hiding underneath it. After the rebuild when the toadstool died he took refuge in the cave behind the Bulb Anemone.
February 2010
He did give us some trouble with the rebuild. While we knew the firefish could jump he was the one who jumped out of the small aquarium and onto the floor. It didn’t seem to damage him luckily.

He is one of the few fish actually eating from my hand when feeding. But he also takes the frozen mysis and searches for algae during the daytime. He also feeds on the Sea Pearls we had a few of lately. The smaller ones disappeared rather quick, only the big ones remain for us to remove.

Cleaning november 2010
One year! The foxface celebrated his first anniversary with us Saturday. He is a bit stressed lately, more then usual. But he does eat from my hand again, so that is a good sign I guess. Hope to have him for more years to come.

Weird black spot
Sunday my wife noticed a big black spot on the Foxface. I did notice a mat spot on his body, I think in the same place as the black spot is now. Might be something of a bite mark or something, it looks a bit like lip marks.
Going to see if I can find out what it is and if I need to worry about it.

Black spot continued
Monday the spot seemed to be more mat again, not much black visible anymore. So far the only results I got from the forums was from someone saying it might be blackspot. Done some reading about this disease, but the foxface doesn’t show any of the symptoms. He doesn’t scrape against rocks or go to the cleaner shrimp to get rid of the parasite and he eats fine. Examples of black spot I saw where all small spots, size of a grain of salt, while this spot is a lot bigger.
One thing I did notice about his behaviour is that he now sits more often in camouflage mode (white colours and spikes up).

Black spot, the end!
Wednesday the whole blackness around the spot was gone, only a mat spot remained. Another suggestion I found was that it might be a sting spot, maybe from the anemone. The behaviour of the Foxface is back to normal again now, no more stressing around. I will keep it at this for now, the sting does sound like a good explanation for its behaviour.
