Caulerpa taxifolia (Green Alga)

Post  thierry on Fri Sep 11, 2009 10:05 am

Source aquaduo.nl

QUICK STATS
  • Care Level: Easy
  • Reef Compatible: Yes, as long as it doesn't grow over Corals
  • Max. Size: Leaves 8-10 cm
  • Diet: Plancton/Light
  • Origin: All Tropical Oceans

This type of alga grows slow and is nice dark of colour compared to most alga species. The featherweed has few demends to the water and because of that can grow fast. It is often used in Seahorse biotopes.

Added 4 new corals, one of them very close to the string. Hope that it will not be overrun

Update Januari 24

Post  thierry on Tue Jan 26, 2010 2:01 pm

Wanted to remove a bit, since it was really starting to overgrow. Unfortunatly it seemed to be only one string, so with one pull the whole algea was removed. It's a bit empty without it, and it doesn't show anywhere else in the aquarium, so for now the topic is closed.
