QUICK STATS
The Caulerpa Racemosa algae can become a problem in the aquarium, even though it has higher requirements to the water quality.
Caulerpa and other green algae produce much oxygen, vitamins, amino acids and colloids. They contribute, by taking up nitrogen connections and phosphates and decontaminate the water doing so. The nitrogen is built up from ammonia and nitrates. Therefore it should be no suprise that the Caulerpa will grow rapidly!
It is said that if you add some freshly pressed out Caulerpa to a aquarium with ill fish they recover more quickly. You should try to maintain the grow by reducing it once a month.

It has been in the aquarium for some time already, was a plague some time ago, now it is limited to one "field". Still no idea what kind of algea this is, i thought i knew but the ones i had selected on my previous forum was not what this was. So now I'm going to try again :p

Found the name of this algae species, looks like it is the Caulerpa racemosa or Grape Caulerpa Algae. The description also fits with the overgrowing part. It is under control, but looks like it is expanding a bit already.

Still growing, and slowly moving towards the Xenia.

Growing bigger and bigger
Its still growing fast, and I keep it within terms so that it wont grow over the Xenia coral again. It has now spread over the back a long way...looks rather nice if it was more clean.

The road to rebuilding Pt 1
Then there is the Grape algae. We are trying to keep it rather big, and let it grow over the back wall now. I hope it will continue to do so when we rebuild the whole aquarium and it has a new location.

The road to rebuilding Pt2
The grape algae will be cut down a big part, but I will not remove it entirely. Maybe I will return both algae species between the two big rock pillars, so they can cover the inside where coral will probably not grow.

Rebuilding Day 1
During the cleaning all the algae got lost unfortunately. But I'm sure it will return in the future. But for now, the topic is closed.
